All x86-compatible CPUs are supported, although some work better than others.
Generally, Intel CPUs are best-supported, simply because they are most popular.
AMD CPUs are supported reasonably well, and they will probably be supported even better when SMP Athlon boards are readily available.
Expect extremely good support for Transmeta processors as long as Linus works for them.
