Disks and Controllers

IDE almost always works, just not necessarily as fast as you might like.
- Most of the common ATA-66 controllers are supported at full speed in 2.4.x.
- If the kernel doesn't enable DMA or fast transfers on your system automatically, there is probably a reason.
- When in doubt, get better cables. Get a 3ware card while you are at it.
Does anyone use SCSI in desktops anymore?
IBM makes the best disks. Trust me.
