Browsing and WINS
All entries are in the [global] section
- os level
- Set higher than 32 for Samba to win elections, lower than 32 for Windows NT to win.
- domain master
- Set to yes to make Samba a domain master. Keeps track of the whole
network neighborhood.
- preferred master
- Setting this to yes will force an election when Samba starts.
- wins support
- Set to yes for Samba to act as a WINS server. Do not use if there is
already another WINS server (such as an NT Server). Only ONE server on a subnet can be a
WINS server.
- wins server
- Set to point to an existing WINS server
- netbios name
- Can be used to change the name of your machine in browse lists.
- netbios aliases
- With this parameter, you can give your unix machine multiple names. Does not work when
machine is acting as a browse or logon server.
